Paediatric physiotherapy

Treatment for growing children

Paediatric physiotherapy is a branch of physiotherapy that aims to improve children's mobility, physical function and quality of life. It is intended for children with motor disorders and developmental delays. Paediatric physiotherapists often work in collaboration with doctors, occupational therapists and speech therapists to offer children personalised treatment according to their specific needs.

A solution to help infants

Paediatric physiotherapy

Paediatric physiotherapy takes care of infants with orthopaedic or respiratory problems, from pregnancy onwards. Gentle manual techniques improve imbalances in the baby's life such as sucking difficulties, regurgitation, reflux, constipation, colic and respiratory conditions. It is important to act quickly with preventive treatment so that the child can grow harmoniously. Advice for everyday life is also given to optimise the treatment over the long term.

Reasons for consultation

  • Congenital torticollis

The baby has an asymmetry of the head and neck, which may be linked to a prolonged position in the womb or a difficult birth.

  • Plagiocephaly

Deformation of the infant's skull, often caused by the use of forceps or a vacuum extractor during delivery.

  • Gait disorders

Difficulty walking or standing properly, which may be linked to musculoskeletal or neurological disorders.

  • Ear infections

Inflammation of the middle ear, which can cause pain and hearing problems in babies and young children.

  • Chronic ENT infections

Recurrent infections of the upper respiratory tract, which can be treated with drainage and mobilisation techniques.

  • Breathing difficulties

Difficulty breathing normally, which may be linked to a respiratory infection or an obstruction of the airways.

  • Tear duct - mouth

Obstruction of the tear duct, which can cause excessive watering of the eyes and eye infections in babies.

  • Sucking and swallowing difficulties

Difficulty suckling properly or swallowing, which may be linked to anatomical or neurological problems.

  • Regurgitation and gastro-oesophageal reflux

Reflux of stomach contents into the oesophagus, which can cause pain and vomiting in babies.

  • Constipation

Difficulty passing stools, which may be linked to problems with bowel motility or mechanical disorders.

  • Colic

Abdominal pain with no apparent cause, which can cause discomfort and irritability in babies.
