Your little dog isn’t purebred, but is it a crossbreed or a mutt? Either way, it has no pedigree and can’t enter dog shows… and it has a huge heart and loves you enormously!
So what’s the difference? When two dogs of different breeds, or a purebred and a dog of unknown origin, have puppies, those puppies are crossbreeds. Mutts are puppies whose parents’ breeds can’t be determined at all.
